Want Beautiful Skin…Go Deeper! Everyone loves beautiful radiant skin! Both men and women will spend large amounts of money on topical products in an effort to improve the appearance of their skin. Some will regularly visit Spas for facial treatments, peels and microdermabrasion in order to keep their skin smooth and clear. However, many find it disheartening when they work so hard on their complexion, and only to find their skin breaking out more or their problem skin not improving. Many have asked if perhaps consuming certain foods aggravate certain skin problems. Orthodox medicine still insists that diet has nothing to do with acne and other skin disorders and subjects its patients to strong antibiotics, especially tetracycline, and recommends irradiation or treatment with cortisone-based medication. Holistic wellness, on the other hand, approaches skin disorders as more comprehensive and more than just “skin deep”. Holistic thinkers believe that dietary abnormalities (excesses and deficiencies) play a significant role in causing skin disorders. They have also found that a nutritional approach in the treatment of acne offers the best results so far. The skin is the body’s largest organ. In fact, in an average adult it covers approximately 7 square feet of space and makes up 16% of a person’s total weight. It consists of three layers – the epidermis (outer layer), the dermis (middle layer) and the subcutaneous or hypodermis (inner layer). Because the skin acts as a shield between the body and millions of foreign substances that exist in our environment, it often reacts with acne, rashes, bumps, scales, redness and other skin problems. Factors that contribute to acne are: oily skin, androgens (male hormone) produced on increased amounts when a boy or girl reaches puberty, oral contraceptives, allergies, Candida Albicans, stress and junk foods. Sensitivity to sugar and other refined, processed foods, and not getting enough zinc or the right type of essential fatty acids has resulted in acne and other skin conditions. An adult past 25 years of age with acne almost always has food allergies. The M’Lis holistic skin care program actually goes deeper and treats the underlying causes of skin disorders from internal to external. Colon cleansing and detoxifying is the first and most important internal program for skin disorders. Drinking at least eight glasses of water per day will improve the condition of the skin. Improving nutrition by eating more raw fruits and vegetables has proven very effective. Malnutrition and nutritional deficiency directly contributes to skin problems. Avoid sugar in every form, caffeine, alcohol, excessive salt, processed foods, oily and fatty foods, and animal fat. Do not use dairy products, and the fat content of dairy products which can worsen the condition. At the end of a 30-day cycle, add one dairy product back at a time. If acne recurs, eliminate that product from diet. It’s very important to take a balanced, chelated 100% nutritional support Multivitamin/Multimineral. It is especially effective to add Evening Primrose Oil because it contains linoleic acid, which is needed by the skin. When zinc is combined with Evening Primrose Oil it is very effective for many skin problems. Many have experienced the benefit of clear skin through exercising because it contributes to good elimination. A special healing clay masque by M’Lis has dramatically helped those with acne, oily skin, large pores, whiteheads and blackheads.
