We’re about to embark on a new year of behavioral health and wellness. We know that a healthy lifestyle is a lifestyle that incorporates a wide range of behaviors, but at the same time, knowing what makes you feel good and what doesn’t is a tricky thing to nail. I know that when it comes to behavior, we all have a different level of self-awareness. We all have different experiences and expectations, and these things can impact how we behave.
I’m not sure how this applies to our group, but we have a pretty good idea of what makes us feel good and what doesn’t. One of our first goals as a group is to get people to understand how their behavior impacts others. We want to be able to help people understand how their choices affect others. We want them to understand that they can choose to make healthier choices because they’re confident that they’re making the right choices.
Our group recently discussed a couple of issues that our members have had, and one of the topics to which they agreed was that our group members are not aware of what our expectations are in relation to behavioral health. We want our members to know that our expectations are to be as informed as we can be of our own behaviors, and we want to encourage our members to make healthier choices, just as much as they want to make healthier choices for themselves.
The problem is that many health care professionals know that we have different standards for healthy behaviors than we do for sick behaviors. The problem is many health care professionals don’t want to provide services that are “inconvenient” (to us) or that are “difficult to talk to” (to our patients). They want us to be our best selves instead of our worst selves. Their goal is to make us more miserable. This is not a helpful approach to care.
In the past, I have discussed the health care industry’s need for change. Today, I will do so again. The problem isn’t so much that our health care providers are not providing their best selves. Their best selves are the most likely to help patients. The problem is that many health care providers are not providing their worst selves. Their worst selves are the most likely to hurt patients.
You might be thinking that my comments about the health care industrys need for change mean I will not talk about how much is spent on advertising and how much is wasted on useless and worthless services. That would be absolutely true, but you’re missing the point. What I am saying is that there is a need for change. As a society, we spend way too much money on health care and not enough on health care providers.
There is a huge need for a system that would allow us to know the truth about our health. The government has done a terrible job of doing this in the past and there is still a large amount of misinformation about health. Even the most basic information can be a huge barrier to better health. We need a system like this that would allow us to know the truth about how we are actually feeling and what we are actually doing.
Well, at least we know now that our government has a terrible track record in this area. So let’s hope it improves over time.
As it turns out, there are many ways to actually know your health. One of the biggest is via a test called the National Health and Nutritional Examination which screens for everything from diabetes to heart disease. The NHE is designed to be a simple test that anyone can take, but some patients are reluctant because they don’t know the answers.
This is another test that you can take yourself because it is so easy. You just tell your doctor that you have an “interest in health” (and have never been to the doctor in the past six months). Then you get a little booklet that tells you what to expect. This time, it tells you to do what? Take blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose tests. These tests are meant to be done in a simple, understandable format.
