I’ve been dog-sitting for a couple of years now and I have to say that I love it. My boyfriend, who is a pretty good dog trainer, has me in the house with him every day and I don’t leave until I get home from work. This allows me to get out and play when I want to, which is nice.
But the thing I love most about it is that it means I can get out of the house more. I dont mind doing laundry or watching movies, but I do miss going to dog-sits. I also miss the dog.
You might be wondering why I bring up dog stinks, but its because I am about to tell you about a recent pet I brought home. Actually, I wasnt gonna tell you about it, but I just had to bring it up because it was one of the most horrible things I ever saw.
I got home from work one day and my dog was standing in the doorway.
We called the police and asked them to come and check on him. The police did, and they said he was a very healthy dog and they didn’t touch his ears because they were too wet. They said he was fine, but they did tell me that they were going to take him to the vet, and that he would have to be spayed. That’s when I thought, “Gosh, maybe the dog stinks.
Yes, this may be true. It turns out that the dog that had been living in a pet carrier that was left at my doorstep had probably been vomiting all day. They tested it for parasites and gave it one shot of penicillin. A few hours later, the vet came to see him and gave him another shot. That night he was still vomiting, and the vet said that he would have to be spayed.
The vet’s decision was certainly a gutsy one, but it’s also worth noting that this pet carrier was left at my doorstep because it was the first time we’d even looked at the carrier since the dog started eating it. I have to say, I’m really glad that I didn’t leave the dog in the carrier.
If you’ve read any of my other articles on the site, you know that it took several hours to write this piece, and I’m not kidding when I say that I spent a lot of time cleaning the dog’s mouth from all of the penicillin I gave him. The dog was still vomiting the next morning, and the vet had to come to my house and get the dog spayed.
I was at work the next morning, and a coworker called to ask if I was staying over that night. I told him that I’d be on call, but that I was going to take the dog for an early walk anyway (I was actually there the next day). I left the dog in the carrier at my house, and I was surprised when I got home that the dog ate the entire carrier.
I’ve been working for the last few weeks, and I did get a call last night about the dog’s vomiting, but I was just in the area of the house that the dog eats the most. I wasn’t thinking about the vomiting since I don’t recall getting a call. The last thing I remember was the dog eating the contents of the carrier. I had a look at the carrier the next day and it didn’t look so bad.
