I’m a Home Health Advocate, so I talk to my clients about their homes. I help them evaluate the areas of their home that are most likely to be contributing to their health or stress, as well as the areas where they can take steps to improve the health of their entire home.
Jim is like a home health inspector. He’s a sort of medical detective and wellness coach, which is how he’s able to see the health and safety of his family.
Jim is a great guy, and I love him dearly. However, he’s not perfect, as I’ll explain. Jim is a home owner in the north-central United States, where he grew up in a very small town. He’s extremely well educated and has a good job, but he’s also very stressed out and exhausted. Some of his stress comes from the fact that his family is constantly on edge about whether food is being delivered to his house.
Ill be honest with you right now. I worry about both Jim and his family very much. When I look at Jim’s life, it’s a sad reflection of what a lot of my clients are dealing with in the same way because they are stressed and exhausted and are being asked to perform stressful tasks for people who barely know them.
The stress of the job is real. In fact, the stress is so real that many of our clients are having back problems or medical issues that they aren’t even aware of. But Jim’s stress doesn’t just come from the fact that he’s being asked to perform certain tasks. He’s stressed out because he has to deal with all sorts of physical challenges everyday. I do it myself when I have back issues.
A client of ours with back problems had to leave his job at the bank because he started having back problems. He had to take a job at a call center to make ends meet financially. He was being asked to do different tasks that he doesnt really enjoy in his current position. The stress can actually be more debilitating than the physical pain from the back pain. I had to take a job as a call center tech. It was not an easy task but I was happy to do it.
The task of call center tech can be a little stressful, but it does not have to be. I am the only IT professional in the whole company. I work from home and I am on call 24/7. I do not take breaks. I dont go to the gym. I have to be on my toes all the time just to make sure everything is running smoothly. I am not in control of my health, so I have to take control of my health.
