I had the pleasure of having a conversation with the okaloosa health department about how to best manage our health and well-being. Their advice is sound, but I would add this to our wellness mantra, “When you feel good, you feel good.” You can feel good and be healthy, but we are not always aware that we are doing so.
I remember seeing an article about a recent survey that concluded that most people who get sick get better. But in this case, it turns out that the people who got sick were actually sicker. So rather than just making it seem like we all got through it, we should make it seem like we are getting better.
And we can’t do that if people are thinking, “I’m feeling sick right now. I think I’m going to get better… so I should just stop feeling sick”. It’s not necessarily about “should” but about “can”.
In a word: yes. That is the single most important thing to remember about this topic. It’s good to have a plan B, but if you have to have a plan A, you won’t feel like you’re getting better if you don’t have a plan B. You are probably going to feel better if you have a plan B because it means you are taking action.
In the health department, we are talking about things like fever, high blood pressure, and even more serious things like heart failure. In other words, we’re talking about things that could have potentially resulted in death. What can be done about that? It is important to try and stay aware of what is going on in your body and make adjustments when you see a symptom that you think you should be taking precautions against. The best place to start is with the first symptom you see.
While looking for a medical professional, go to your doctor first and talk to him. Explain your symptoms, what you did, and what you think you should be doing. He can recommend a few things to try and help you manage your symptoms. The key thing is to listen to your body and adjust what you are doing.
This is one of the most important things to remember about our bodies, and it’s something I’ve found to be particularly helpful with getting my body to better handle my chronic pain. I’ve been using this technique in the past to help me with my chronic back pain and I found it to be very effective. I’ve found it to also work well for my depression as well.
