My husband and I are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters that have just turned sixteen and eighteen. We’ve been raising our two girls “by the potty” since they were babies, and now they are potty trained.
That is a huge commitment by both parents, and a big one for our daughters. For us, potty training has been a life long goal. While we know it is a great achievement, it is also a huge commitment for both us and our daughters to have to make.
I think the fact that the girls are still at the stage where we have to teach them to use a potty is a big plus, but we have to teach them to go potty before they ever leave the house. Of course, this is only a small part of the potty training process, but it is a big deal for our girls. I think this is a huge part of why we are so proud of them.
My daughter is now 16 and has been using the potty for about 9 months. If she needs to use it, she has to take her daughter with her to the bathroom and do so. She has to practice at least 6 times a day, and she has to hold the position for at least 15 minutes. If the girls are going to have a toilet trained before they are teenagers, this part of potty training is mandatory.
My daughter has been using the potty for about 6 months, but she has yet to be trained by a trainer. This seems to only be a problem for the girls in her preschool and elementary school classes. The other girls have been taught in private settings without any supervision. This is why I am so proud of them.
