“Puppy health record” is a term that a lot of us hear used in the dog training world. This is a term I personally use to describe a dog health record, which is a list of dog health issues and a description of what the dog did to fix those issues. Here on the blog, we use the term “Puppy Health Record” to describe the same thing, but with our dog’s name as the title of the post.
To be fair to the term, it’s also used to describe a lot of things. For example, a puppy with a lot of health issues is generally a good dog to avoid, but a puppy with no health issues is a bad dog. In our case, though, it’s a good dog to avoid at all costs. Puppies are notoriously hardy but still prone to a variety of health issues, including allergies and heart disease.
The health records are kept by vet clinics in the US. But unlike the typical medical record, a puppy health record contains a lot of information about the health of the animal. The vet will usually write a report of the puppy’s health, but in our case, the vet didn’t write any reports for us, we just have the vet’s written records. The vet’s records are usually pretty thorough, but they don’t go into detail about the health of the puppy.
The dog health records are pretty extensive, including information about: pet insurance coverage; vaccinations; parasite treatments; health insurance information; and many other details.
We will be visiting the vet, in person, to have our health records checked once the dogs are released. We will also be submitting our blood and urine to the lab, to determine the actual cause of death. The health records we’ve received have been pretty extensive, so hopefully we’ll have a complete medical history for the dog.
We also want to make sure that, even if the vet determines the dog died from something that was not a disease and no antibiotics were given, we are still covered by pet insurance. There are a number of states that require pet health records to be filed, and the insurance company will have to pay out. Our health records will be filed and we will have coverage, but the insurance company will likely not cover us.
In the meantime, we are not paying for pets, so our health records have no value.
We are now a pet owning household and will be filing pet health records. This is not because we’re a bit crazy or anything. We are pets, and have pets. We want to make sure our pets are protected.
Puppies are vulnerable because they are helpless in their mother’s womb. They may not survive the first month of life, which is when they need the most care. In the meantime, we are responsible for their health. We will likely have to pay for the cost of any vet visits we have to have.
Puppies are cute; they are adorable. But they are also very smart, they are curious, and they may be vulnerable to disease. They are the most vulnerable of all pet species, and will face a lot of danger. We should be making sure that the health of our pets is taken very seriously and that they are well maintained.
