Seminole Health Department, located at the Seminole Health Center, is a part of the Seminole Health District.
Seminole Health Department does a lot of good for our state. Their mission is to provide a full range of services to people in South Carolina. The health department is the single largest employer in Anderson County, and their workers provide a wide variety of services for the people of South Carolina.

We’re glad to see that the health department is a team effort. That said, the health department’s work is a small portion of what the health department does. Other departments provide services that are a bigger part of the health department’s missions. For example, there are many services that a blood bank provides for the people of South Carolina.
Seminole County has the highest median income in the state. This is likely due to the fact that it is a county that is heavily dependent on the tourism industry. But this was not always the case. In the early 1900’s, the county was the poorest county in the state. Its poverty rate was as high as 42%. The poverty rate has since dropped to 23%, although it’s still not as high as South Carolina’s.
The state’s poverty rate has dropped in the last five years with the number of people living below the poverty line going from 8,100 to 4,600. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says that the reason for the decline is that people are now getting health care and education, which has brought them out of poverty. But it is still a high number considering the fact that the county has a median income of over $50,000.
The number of people living below the poverty line in Seminole County has dropped from eight hundred forty-seven in 2000 to four hundred fifty-three in 2009. That, combined with the fact that the county is one of the largest counties in the state, means that in Seminole County, the poverty rate dropped by a point in the last five years.
Seminole County does have a low poverty rate, but it is not at the level of the rest of the state, or even the county. Seminole County has a poverty rate of only 8.5% while the state’s poverty rate is 6.7%.
